lower deschutes fly fishing multi day guided trip

Overview

Immerse yourself in the peace and tranquility of nature with a multi day fly fishing/camping excursion on the Lower Deschutes River with Legendary Outfitters. It is here, in the most remote depths of the wild and scenic Deschutes River canyon that you will find lightly pressured Redband Trout, Bull Trout and Steelhead. After fishing all day and taking in the sights, kick your feet up and enjoy some delicious food in a safe, comfortable camp with great company. We try to provide all the comforts one could expect on a “glamping” trip.

We offer 2,3 and 4 day trips, with our most popular trip being the 3 Day/2 night option. We can accommodate groups of up to 6 people.

What to expect

Legendary Outfitters will provide all of the camp equipment and food necessary for spending multiple days on the river, as well as any fishing gear needed. This includes tents, cots, sleeping pads, chairs, tables, rain fly, dining tent, full camp kitchen(i.e. stoves, cookware, dining ware, etc.), camp lighting, drinks, food, fly fishing tackle and waders and boots if you need them.

the food

On the camp trips we provide you with breakfast, lunch, dinner, boat snacks and appetizers at happy hour. We do our best to go above and beyond when preparing meals for our guests. We source the highest quality local ingredients to create diverse and satisfying meals. We will work to accommodate any dietary restrictions or food allergies.

Mock itinerary

  1. We suggest staying the night in the near by area (Madras or Redmond) the night before the trip. We are happy to make a hotel recommendation upon request. You will need to provide your own transportation. Note: your vehicle will be shuttled from put-in to the take-out and kept in a safe place for the duration of the trip.

  2. Meet at the boat launch, Warm Springs or Trout Creek at 8 AM on the morning of the trip. Here you will load your luggage into dry bags to be taken down to camp on the gear boat. You will also meet your guide and be assigned to a boat for the day.

  3. The remainder of the day you will float and fish, stopping for a shade break and shore lunch in the afternoon. Please note that there is no angling from a boat on the lower Deschutes, so all angling is done from a wading or shore line position.

  4. Arrive in camp at approx. 5-6 PM, hang up your waders, enjoy appetizers and happy hour. Relax or fish at camp until dinner is served. Then catch some ZZZ’s and recharge.

  5. Coffee will be served at first light, followed by breakfast. Once everyone is awake and fed we pack up camp and depart at approx. 9 AM.

  6. Repeat steps 3-5.

  7. On the last day you will fish your way down to the take-out. We try to land at Harpham Flat at approx. 2 pm, where you will find your vehicle waiting for you. This should give you enough time to comfortably drive to home, hotel or airport. Here we will part out gear, give hugs and say goodbyes.
