The Lower Deschutes River

Day Trips

Originating in the Cascade Mountains, the Deschutes River is the Artery that sustains life in the high desert. It flows for 252 miles northward to the Columbia. The Lower section from Pelton Dam to the mouth is home to several desirable species, mainly the Redband Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout, Steelhead and Salmon. There is breathtaking scenery, abundant fish, prolific insect hatches and comfortable weather.

Deschutes Guided Fly Fishing

Lower Deschutes full & half day Floats

These tours are a great way to get a full Lower D experience. Definitely the most popular option. Enjoy the scenery and serenity of the desert canyon, as you safely float along in a drift boat, targeting trout and/or steelhead with fly rods! We drift the section between Warm Springs and Trout Creek or certain sections around Maupin (depending on the season). All equipment and a shore lunch are provided.

Full Day (approx. 8hrs): One or Two Anglers $600, Three Anglers $750

Half Day (approx. 4hrs): One or Two Anglers $500, Three Anglers $600

Lower Deschutes walk and wade

Make the best of your time! Let’s face it, not everyone is willing to commit to the float trip. There is some good water that is accessible by foot. We could head out in the evening and hit the prime hours of the day. This is usually the best effort to catch some epic dry fly fishing during the evening caddis explosion on the lower D. Or spend the day swinging choice steelhead runs. We offer this trip from May-October.

Half Day (4hrs): One Angler $350, Additional Anglers $100 each (up to 4)

Full Day (8hrs):One Angler $450, Additional Anglers $125 each (up to 4)
