Winter Steelhead

There really isn’t anything like hooking a dime bright steelhead straight out of the ocean. There are few fish that are as tenacious, aggressive and exhilarating to catch as a wild Pacific Steelhead.

Coastal Steelhead

The Winter Steelhead in Oregon begin to show up in December and can fish well into April. That being said, the runs typically peak in February and March. The Hatchery strain fish are the first to arrive, making the fishing in January quite good. These fish make excellent table fare and can fight well. By the time February rolls around we’ve got a solid mixture of Hatchery Strain, Brood Stock, and Wild Native Fish all mixed in together. Who knows what will be there when your line pulls tight.

We offer full day float trips from January through March. These tours include guide, all gear, instruction and a hot lunch. They are typically from sun up to sun down, unless other times are arranged. The weather along the Oregon Coast can be unpredictable and at times unforgiving. We ask that you come prepared for wet/cold weather. We also ask that you stay flexible… We may need to adjust bodies of water or even reschedule if the rivers blow out.

We welcome all skill levels and different personalities on these trips. Everyone has to start somewhere and you don’t need to be an expert to be welcome on our boat. Be open to criticism and stay positive. Steelhead fishing is often times more of an endurance race than a sprint. Keep your chin up, stay confident, trust the method.
